Forbidden/forgotten OP_RETURN protocols

by kuopassa, Finland, 2023-05-25 ()

In the olden times Bitcoin had many OP_RETURN-based protocols for different purposes, like for creating so-called colored coins using Open Assets protocol. Many of those protocols, ideas, were booted out from Bitcoin Core because of ideological reasons. Well, perhaps if you the reader are ideologically so charged, you might say those OP_RETURN protocols were "discouraged from existing" because of practical reasons -- to prevent the blockchain database from bloating. With Bitcoin Satoshi Vision, or BSV, bloatmaxxing is a positive thing, because the bloater pays.

For that reason I'd like to preserve from the Bitcoin Wiki an old deleted version of its OP_RETURN page. It lists many OP_RETURN ideas not much used in Bitcoin Core or other such blockchains, but which perhaps could be revived in Bitcoin Satoshi Vision. The list of old protocols and OP_RETURN prefixes is:

- Apekato (none?)
- CoinSpark (SPK)
- Proof of Existence (DOCPROOF)
- Crypto Copyright (CryptoTests-, and CryptoProof-)
- BlockSign (BS)
- Open Assets (OA)
- stampd (STAMPD##)
- Factom (Factom!!, FACTOM00, Fa, and FA)
- Tradle (tradle)
- LaPreuve (LaPreuve)
- Blockstore (hex:5888, hex:5808, and id)
- Bitproof (BITPROOF)
- Stampery (S1, S2, S3, S4, and S5)
- Ascribe (ASCRIBE)
- ProveBit (ProveBit)
- Eternity Wall (EW)
- Colu (CC)
- Omni Layer (omni
- Moneygraph (MG)
- Remembr (RMBe and RMBd)
- OriginalMy (ORIGMY)
- Identity (BID)
